On the 10th of June the newly landscaped main entrance into South Africa's capital, Pretoria, was opened. The Fountain Circle was transformed over the past weeks to reflect the vibrant spirit of South Africa, using artistic views of the globe, and Africa's recent history. BEKA LED luminaires were chosen to show this landscaped area in contemporary lights. 33 special LED beacons, mounted at the top of BEKA's white GRP Poles, establish with their blue lights the visual link to the neighbouring Freedom Park. The impressive gabions are lit with 264 recessed 3.6W LED uplighters adding to the dramatic impression at night. Randomly slanted metal I-Beams, resembling grass behind a kicked football, are illuminated with 78 BEKA waterproof 2W LEDs lighting downwards. The main feature, resembling a football, is lit with 5 BEKA PROJECTOLUX 250W MH floodlights. The trees on the Fountain Circle are lit from below with 5 BEKASPIKE 35W MH. The entire circle is embraced with white classic BEKA HESTIA luminaires, which feature most energy-efficient Metal Halide light sources. This is yet another public project, which intelligently applies LED technology as energy-efficient and long-lasting light sources.
